Ingredients
  

  • 2 lbs chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt adjust to taste
  • ½ tsp pepper

Equipment

  • 6-quart slow cooker or crockpot
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Tongs
  • 2 forks for shredding
  • 1 Cutting board
  • Airtight storage containers

Method
 

  1. Add chicken to the slow cooker.
  2. Pour in broth and sprinkle seasonings over the top.
  3. Cover and cook on LOW 6–7 hours or HIGH 3–4 hours.
  4. Take two forks and shred the chicken in the slow cooker. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  5. Serve hot with your favorite sides.

Notes

For the best texture, avoid overcooking chicken breasts. Check early if your slow cooker runs hot.
Make it creamy: Stir in 4 oz cream cheese during the last 30 minutes.
Add vegetables: Carrots, potatoes, or bell peppers work well.
Make it taco-style: Add taco seasoning and salsa, then shred.
Add heat: Stir in red pepper flakes or hot sauce to taste.
